My friend very recently just broke up with his girlfriend of 3 years, citing the reason that she was too demanding. Whenever they had to discuss some stuff, it'll become an argument if he didn't agree with what her views/choices. They've had gone on holidays together over extended periods of time as well.

I felt it was a pity because they seemed very compatible.

Do you think things could have worked out?

Who is in the wrong over here? Are they both wrong?

Maybe your friend has tolerated the gf enough over the last 3 years. If both parties cannot compromise, best to go separate ways.
