its nodejs so its very scalable in terms of I/O. there is little to no computation done for the site so there are no worries about scalability from the computational perspective.

if you compare with a typical forum site run on PHP, far less resources are required to handle the same amount of traffic, because nodejs uses event programming and lots of processes run asynchronously in the background. A more traditional site is likely to have lots of blocking processes which means that chokepoints exist.

This site is running on a $10/mth server nia so if traffic goes up like mad might need to add more servers. but i suspect we wont need that for some time. Everything else is opensource so it costs next to nothing, and if need be, i can add node balancers for pretty low costs. must also bear in mind that i set it up in under 5 hrs so i'm still trying to patch up some loose ends here and there.

I must clarify something. This forum was not created because of the clamping down by moderators on the original site. It was already being planned as an upgraded platform for edmwers (think about all the various developers coming up with GAGT or GPGT.org or edmwer.com because HWZ wasn't doing anything to improve the forums). With the situation as it is now, we decided to expedite it (shamelessly) since it was a good chance to get users on board.

The whole idea was to implement a forum with better user interface and user experience, which based on the user reviews here so far, are an improvement over the original EDMW. I foresee that we might be a little more lax with moderation because we have no commercial or political affiliations, but there is no intention of turning this place into Sammyboy 2.0. We will still stick with basic rules.

If you dig down, Edmw.co representatives contacted us on a thread and suggested merging too and we didn't stop them from advertising here. But they said they were going to use vBulletin or phpBB as the forum software. Personally, I think that is a bad move. The reason why HWZ Forum's user experience is terrible is because of the dependence on old technology. The need to constantly refresh pages etc... are not keeping up with times (just think of how you use FB). Paying hundreds of dollars for outdated software doesn't sound like a good way to start a new forum. So I think the direction of the two sites are a little different.

Then again, they have more users so maybe that's all that counts. Regardless, feel free to use any site you want. We don't discriminate.

Edmw.club has problems of its own to solve and does not have time for frivolous activities such as ddos attacks.

I do not know if anyone is doing attacks against you, but I believe the sheer amount of traffic(congrats btw) this site gets is partially to blame as well.

If you take a look at edmw.club you will notice that it doesn't use traditional forums software. The whole idea of it is to redefine the user experience. This is simply a difference in ideology.

However, I hope edmw.co does not regard users who have nothing better to do than to sprout rumours out of thin air as a strength. It's a bloody weakness, better set some guidelines to teach ginnas how to behave themselves when in public.
