Donation Drive!

Hi fellow EDMWers,

The admin team is officially requesting for donations to keep our new server up and running. We had a long brainstorming session over the past few days (we humbly apologise for the delays). The conclusion we came to was that if we want a thriving community, we jolly well have rock solid servers so we don't disappoint the community. Already, our server load is fast approaching the limit – we are getting in excess of 1,000 guests during peak period.

Our team has underwritten virtually all the costs to date - and we will require monetary contributions to keep the EDMW forum alive. The current longluntan server we are sitting on is free and can be shut down any moment. At the same time, the other rebel community also lack the resources and manpower to maintain a big server like us without some serious monetary support and a full team of IT professionals so eventually we all need a long-term solution. There is no way to keep all of us EDMWers together in one place, unless we move back to PetPet's embrace, or perhaps some other forum.. but I believe no other forum in Singapore will accept our infiltration and our KYM threads.

Transparency of Donations
We will be fully transparent about every single cent we receive. We will upload screenshots of all bank transfers made at the end of each day, and we will reflect all contributions properly. Likewise, any expenses will be recorded, and invoices will be uploaded for everyone's perusal.

Usage of Donations
The new forum has been designed using the latest vbulletin software, which hardwarezone is currently running an older version of. The one-off cost of S$584.42 (US$399) has already been paid for. On the hardware side, the vbulletin software will run on a dedicated Xeon octo-core server that will cost us US$119/month that will support a very large number of users at the same time. Surpluses will be kept, and will not be withdrawn other than for actual forum expenses.

We understand that asking you to soliciting for donations will require a leap of faith and trust from everyone... but we hope that the amount of work (mostly behind the scenes though!) we have done over the past few days can convince everyone that we are serious about keeping the community alive, and we are not out to scam people of a few bucks.
